Did you know? The Mt. St. Helens eruption was the worst volcanic disaster in U.S. recorded history, causing the deaths of 57 people and approximately 7,000 large animals.
In 1980 that a 1.5 mi-diameter section of St. Helens’ north face was displaced outward by at least 270 ft. This violent eruption had forever changed the landscape of Oregon in just a matter of days.
