Volunteer

This museum was built by hand, and it is kept running the same way. Bring us the time you have and the gifts you were given, and we will build the work around them.

Why We Need You

Volunteers play a vital role in running, maintaining and building the Creation Education Museum in Copley, Ohio. When you serve with us we will honor the time you have to give, we will use the gifts you bring, and we will make you feel like part of the family.

The Creation Education Committee is an entirely volunteer-based group that looks after the museum as a whole. We repair, update, and install exhibits, tackle the technical issues, celebrate the victories, and get to see our visions come to life. Most importantly, our goal is to serve the Lord Jesus Christ by presenting the truths of creation to everyone who walks through the museum, and that’s an investment that pays eternal dividends.

Ever wondered what it takes to keep a place like this on its feet? Volunteering is how you find out. You will not be lending a hand from the edge of the room; you will be in the middle of it, with a look behind the scenes that visitors never get.

Come full time, part time, with a group, or only for the events that suit you. We will work around your schedule and look for the job that fits you, because when you shine, we shine.

Ways to Help

No two volunteers here do the same thing. This is the work that needs doing, and any one of these is a good place to start.

  • Build New Exhibits

New displays have to be designed, framed, painted and installed. If you like working with your hands, there is nearly always something on the bench.

  • Repair Existing Exhibits

School groups are hard on a display case. Keeping what we already have sharp and safe is steady work, and it matters more than it looks.

  • Plan and Coordinate Events

Creation Speaks evenings, group visits and special days all need somebody thinking two steps ahead of everyone else.

  • Develop Promotional and Education Material

Handouts, signage, lesson support, and the printed pieces a visitor takes home and reads later.

  • Produce Social Media Content

Photograph it, film it, write it, post it. Much of this can be done from wherever you are, which helps if getting to Copley often is the hard part.

  • Train to Give Tours

We will teach you the museum, exhibit by exhibit, until you can walk a group through it yourself. No science background required.

  • Engage with Guests and Groups

Meet people at the door, answer what you can, and stay with a group through their visit. Some of the best conversations here start with a question nobody planned for.

What you take away

It Goes Both Ways

Your time is a gift and we do not take it for granted. As a volunteer here you can expect:

  • An inside look at how a museum is built, funded and kept running
  • Hands-on work on real exhibits, events and programs
  • Personal unlimited access to the museum
  • 10% discount in the gift shop
  • Volunteer service credit, useful for school requirements, scholarships, resumes and college applications
  • People worth knowing, and experience worth putting on paper
  • The chance to show someone the truths of creation and see that change their life forever

Come and Serve

You do not need a degree, a science background, or every answer.

You need some time, and a willingness to be taught. Tell us what you are good at and when you are free, and we will find where it fits.

Volunteers at the museum must be 18 or over. The Akron Fossils & Science Center (opens in a new tab) has programs for younger people, and we would love to see you there.
