Request It in Advance
Guided tours are not walk-ins. Send your request through our form and the Creation Education Committee will pick it up from there.
Walk the museum yourself with our professional audio tour playing from your phone. Or bring your group, and let one of us guide you through it.
Included with every visit
This museum was built to be self-guided. Numbered stations take you through the museum, and every one of them carries a QR code. Point your phone camera at the code, and choose the exhibit you want to learn about.
Every exhibit is narrated by Bill Sanderson, the museum’s founder, in a professionally recorded audio tour.
There is nothing to download and nothing to rent. Stop at what catches you, walk past what does not, and play an exhibit again if you want to hear it twice. See every exhibit you will pass on the way.
Stop at the cashier’s counter on your way in. That takes care of the whole museum, and the audio tour comes with it.
Hold your phone camera up to the QR code on the station and tap the link that appears. No app, no account, no sign-up.
The narration plays on your own phone. Bring earbuds if you would rather keep it to yourself, or turn it up and share it with whoever came with you.
Booked in advance
Some groups would rather not walk it alone, and we are glad to walk it with you. A guided tour puts one of our people with your group from the first exhibit to the last, so you can stop anywhere and ask about what you are looking at.
You will come away understanding not only what the exhibits show, but why they are here at all. Every display in the museum is there for a reason, and on a guided tour you hear the reasons as well as the evidence.
Guided tours are arranged in advance with the Creation Education Committee. Groups and individuals are both welcome, and every tour is put together around the people who are coming.
Request a Guided TourWe do not argue with our guests.
We show you the evidence, we answer what you ask, and we let you decide for yourself.
Before you come
Send us a request and we will take it from there. Every tour is built around the group that is coming, so the first thing we do is talk it through with you.
Guided tours are not walk-ins. Send your request through our form and the Creation Education Committee will pick it up from there.
We will talk every request through with you first, by phone or by email, whichever suits you better. That is how we tailor a tour to what your group actually needs.
Twenty people is the most we take through in one session. Larger groups are split across more than one, and we will work the timing out with you when we talk.
That is roughly how long a guided tour of the museum runs. We will confirm the timing with you before the day.
The Akron Fossils & Science Center handles all payment, at the counter, on the day of your tour. There is nothing to pay when you send your request.
What a tour costs depends on the size of your group, so we settle it case by case. Ask us when we speak and we will give you a straight answer.
Limited Engagement
There is one more way through the museum, and it is new. It began as Bill Sanderson’s vision, and he gives this tour himself on a chosen Saturday, at most twice that day.
This one is not built around your group. It is set by the calendar and by how many people want to come, so it runs when there is enough interest to fill it. Five people is the minimum and twenty is the most we can take. Ask to be put on the list, and we will tell you when the next date is set.
Nifty Fifty members come on a Founder’s Tour for free. If you are a member, say so when you ask.
